Today, I went for a ride with my son down to his college and I was watching the students moving from class to class, I started to think of how many are really confident with the career path they are on. I mean, let’s face it, one of the hardest things in life is knowing what career path you really want to follow. And yet, we as parents think they should know what they want and work toward it in the most passionate but cost efficient way. However, if we are truthful, even us as parents have no idea what career path is the best. Instead, we struggle with making decisions based on someone else’s dreams or by the amount of income that it may produce. In other words, our natural process is one of a worldly view, of living out your dreams through others and chasing after that all mighty dollar. However, the Lord’s view tends to be different than the worlds. Now don’t get me wrong, the Lord wants us to be productive and striving but not for selfish reasons. Instead, He wants a passion for Him! You see, there’s no doubt that He has shown a passion for us. This was visible by His willingness to come to this earth to die for our sins. It wasn’t about His power being revealed but His plan to be accomplished so that we have hope and a future. And all He wants is for us to have that same passion – to make decisions based on love, sacrifice, and a commitment to building that relationship with Him! So, the question becomes – what is your path? Is it about you and your acheivments or Him and your reward with Him!
Romans 12:1-2 “And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all He has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice – the kind He will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship Him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you which is good and pleasing and perfect.” (NLT)
